About the Role

 

As senior product manager, your role is to direct and manage the development of their big data platform and its key data products. This platform is where they manage the lifeblood of of the business. Their rich datasets of user behaviour and context, Ingestion of a wide variety of data sets, normalisation, storage, transformation, use in machine learning systems and output of this data to a variety of destinations including data warehouses and 3rd party platforms all fall into the purview of the role. You will drive innovative use of this data, looking to squeeze as much value from it as possible for both insight and targeting purposes. Above all you will meet critical customer use cases, providing key functionality for company users of many different kinds - empowering them to service clients to an exacting standard.

 

This a senior individual contributor role reporting to the Head of Product with a high degree of cross-functional working and expectation of informal mentoring across the business.

 

Senior product manager - Data responsibilities include:

 

  • Scrum product owner for our big data platform and the products that are built on it
  • Developing, with the Head of Product , a clear strategy and roadmap for their products, demonstrating that business climate, customer needs, internal user context and competitive landscape have all been considered
  • Executing strategy and roadmap with well-planned and managed feature releases
  • Balancing long term company interests with critical short-term capture of competitive advantages or mitigation of losses
  • Working with global and local commercial teams and marketing to ensure data products meet the needs of users and customers – enabling our teams to excite customers, appeal to them and build loyalty
  • Building strong and close relationships with key suppliers
  • Educating the business on data
  • Contributing to building and maintaining the culture and HT values
  • Providing informal mentoring throughout the business

 

 

Experience required:

 

  • You will need experience working in digital marketing and specifically with product management responsibility over marketing data sets.
  • You will have a strong technical understanding and interest in how specific big data technologies work and are able to meaningfully collaborate with engineers on the design of these systems.
  • You will be customer focused, passionate about their work and excited to build tools which others can use to exceed client needs.

 

Skills:

 

  • Ability to develop, communicate and advocate for a clear and precise long-term vision for their products
  • Strategic decision making aligned with this vision
  • Experience in working effectively within mature agile environments
  • Proven track record managing big data systems
  • Emotional intelligence, curiosity, and an open mind
  • Objective and impartial analysis of their own product’s ROI
  • Experience working with machine learning systems
  • Experience in data visualisation with tools such as PowerBI
  • Proficiency with SQL

This is a full-time role with a modern office space in the City of London.
